Hidden away in a small valley at 700m above sea level, cerdeira was a village of schist houses at risk of disappearing after agricultural acitivity was abandoned in the middle of the 20th century. Almost 300 years old, the village was built by courageous people, farmers who lived off the land and who, even if they left in search of a better life for their families, would always come back and visit their home.

This place is undoubtedly worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. The concept of this space is truly unique and unparalleled. I was absolutely thrilled. As for the conditions: in winter, the stone houses can be quite chilly, so you need to heat the stove—which, in itself, adds to the charm and atmosphere. One challenge was finding dinner, as the on-site restaurant was closed, and all nearby restaurants required reservations in advance. Additionally, the electric car charger was out of service. However, all these minor inconveniences are more than outweighed by the uniqueness of the location and its one-of-a-kind ambiance. Thank you! I will definitely be back.

Beautiful village. Very nice house, fully equipped, perfect heating system (in February it is needed...). Very pleasant balcony. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Last but not least, the people in charge have been amazingly helpful. Many thanks!

Our unit was very spacious with double balconies one on the side and the other in the front. We enjoyed our stay, it was relaxing and peaceful. The up and down wore us down, being we're just about to turn 70 in good shape. It was a pleasant experience.

We only got to stay for 1 night this time and the weather was a bit sad but what a beautiful place to stay and disconnect to reconnect to self and nature. Service was very friendly and accommodating (I had my service dog with me). Breakfast was lovely (and the cake!!!) and so was the area hiking. Would love to come back for longer and get to enjoy the natural pool. Thank you!

The entire experience is outstanding. The only problem is getting there: this isn't a trip for people who are afraid of heights. Yes, I realised it's up a mountain, but when I called I explained I'm very afraid of heights and I was told the way up there wasn't "that bad". It is. If you are afraid of heights, it is terrifying and I think they should inform people about this in advance in the website. Other than that, it's an incredible place. The houses are amazing, the workshop I took was really great. The surrounding nature it's just gorgeous.

Gorgeous schist house in a gorgeous place. There was no airco in the room but we slept with all the windows open and had zero mosquitoes. We stayed 2 nights and slept incredible. If you want water you can fill up a jug with spring water from the drinking fountain. There were 2 yoga mats in the house, which we used on the balcony. It’s very peaceful and quiete, the views are insane, and we enjoyed the breakfast with bread, eggs, a wide variate of cheeses, special jams like pumpkin jam, yoghurt, fruits and home made cake. The ladies at the reception and the cafe are super kind and helpful. There is a tiny natural pool in the village if you want to cool off. Here they host creative workshops that you can attend and there are several adventures activities you can attend. The hike down blew my mind, we are really happy we got to discover this area. Only minus point - too many Americans that seem to come in groups…
