There is mold in my room, which is very unhealthy, and they don’t seem to care about it at all. I have sent 2–3 emails asking them to fix the problem or change my room, but I haven’t received any response. As an international student living in Paris, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Many problems have been discussed in the other long reviews and they are all true, unfortunately. I live here for 1.5 years now, in the beginning it was ok and convenient for people from abroad, but over the past months everything is declining with an incredible pace. "New" heaters are so cold that you wake up at night from freezing, you cannot receive any parcels (also, no door bell for delivery without the reception), they took all key cards for our rooms but one and want money to get a second one back, common areas not usable for month (without discount, of course) due to useless renovations, bugs and ants in apartments and common areas, they closed the bar last summer that was formerly part of the residence etc. I could continue forever with these lists. So bottomline: if you have any alternative, don't come here!

I've yet to move in, but so far everyone I've spoken to has been super helpful and really nice. They always respond promptly to emails and try to accommodate different needs. The lady who was doing the visits was very friendly and the guy who was at reception at the time, although our interaction was brief, also seemed nice. I usually talk to a different third person through emails, who is quite knowledgeable and kind as well. I really recommend this place, specially considering the staff I've met so far!

Scammy booking system. Inefficient, unhelpful staff. Mediocre cleanliness. Definitely a student residence falling very short in trying to provide hotel-like services. I reached the staff, including managers, to solve an issue with my last two invoices. Despite of having used ECLA’s website for the booking, they got in their system that I did it via Booking.com. In reality, when paying ON THEIR WEBSITE, the payment was “magically” sent to ECLA’s booking partner GuestReservations.com, which charged a “service fee” of 187 euros (see pic attached). I sent several emails to ECLA with proof that I never clicked on GuestReservations’ website, neither Booking.com. In summary, ECLA’s invoice does not show this service fee from its partner. When I reached GuestReservations asking for the invoice, they sent me to a webpage with no download or printing buttons. There, the service fee was shown but not invoice code for accounting purposes. Further research got me to learn that GuestReservations has been accused before for scamming clients with crazily high “service fees” and in some cases, like mine, even without the client visiting their website. ECLA is enabling this scammer. And the only thing their staff have learned to help is say “sorry”. That was also their solution when I complained about not having shower gel in one of my stays. Yes, I have stayed more than once at ECLA because is super close to my company. But never again. I’m done with these people. Students might not mind your inefficiency and low standards for cleanliness. But for older clients, you are a disgrace.

I live here since February 2024. The residence is maybe ok for people looking for an Airbnb, but for students or people who are looking for a long term place to live, look elsewhere. This explains why they have high ratings on Google Maps, it's because of the people who use it as an Airbnb and stay 1 or 2 days here and leave positive reviews. We have created a group to discuss these issues with management, and made a petition that was signed by more than 100 people, and sent emails to the reception to be passed up the hierarchy to the UXCO management, yet they didn't even bother to answer us, and we insisted and insisted and spoke to them. Here are some of the problems, I will not exagerate anything (remember that): -All of the Ecla 2 building's vent system releases ungodly amounts of dust into the apartments. You might think I'm exagerating, but I vacuum every single day and have an air purifier and still dust is visible on all surfaces after only a day or two. - There are no real mailboxes, we have small ones but inside the buildings and must be opened with a code, so when and if the postman wants and finds a way to bypass the many gates that need a badge to be opened, they can only leave small letters that would enter through that fent. - We used to receive our packages at the reception office, recently and for months now, they stopped accepting packages, this means that since the residence is in Palaiseau, if you receive a package the delivery person will not call you 99% of the time because the residence is too big and they don't even bother, and then your package will go to the post office 2 kilometers away, and if you don't have a car you will be making that trip everytime you receive a package. If the site from which you're buying supports mondial relay you can send the package to the Carrefour near the residence but they don't accept most other carriers like UPS or DHL or Colis Privé, etc. so The post office it is... Like thousands of residents now have to make that trip multiple times a week, because ECLA refuses to hire another employee to handle them, this is corporate greed on a level I honestly have never imagined existed. And when we contact them about this and complain and organise, they literally don't answer us, and when we go to them and rant and complain in person, they politely tell us that well they're going to talk to their managers etc. etc. but nothing gets done. - The laundry rooms are a nightmare: there are two, one at ecla 1 and one at ecla 2, if you live at ecla 1 you can't access ecla 2, but if you live in ecla 2 you can access both. In Ecla 2 only 2 driers dry clothes, the others leave them wet, in Ecla 1 you will roll the dice and 80% of the time you will choose a drier that doesn't dry anything. The laundry machines cost 4.5 euros for the cheapest cycle, and the drier costs 3.5 euros for the cheapest cycle, meaning it'll cost you at least 8 euros to do your laundry, and that is if you can find a free laundry machine because there are lots of people competing for a small number of machines of which always half are out of order. - The heating is really bad, I have lived in residences where I paid half the rent I pay here where I was comfortable inside, here you will have to wear multiple layers in your apartment, so you will either have to buy your own heater (which is against their rules) or pay a very high rent for su par comfort. - The vents are interconnected and if someone is cooking or smoking something, the corridors will stink and you sometimes will even have it in your room. - The kitchen range hood is not vented outside, it just blows the cooking vapors back in your room, so good luck keeping a non smelling room if you're planning to cook. I'm not even going to talk about their illegal practices: - Some people have complained that they fine you if your rent is late by even a couple weeks, this is illegal in France, but it explains why they send you the contract to be signed online in a format you can't even download.

Before moving in, I had to pay €950 in “administration fees.” With such a high amount, I expected everything to be smooth and professional. Instead, my check-in experience was chaotic. When I arrived, I was told I was missing a document and had to spend over an hour trying to find it. Despite charging almost €1,000, they never sent a clear list of required documents beforehand. To make things worse, the staff member checking me in said: “If you don’t have this document, you won’t be able to access your room today.” Completely unacceptable. Once I finally got into my room, the low quality of the apartment was immediately obvious: 1. No proper kitchen and not enough storage space for food, especially if you share the apartment. 2. Extremely poor soundproofing, you can hear everything your roommate does. 3. The wall between rooms is so thin that I could feel vibrations when my roommate moved in their bed. 4. In general, nothing works properly in ECLA. Any issue you encounter will likely remain unresolved. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Running out of hot water is very common. You will often have to take cold showers during winter, which is unacceptable for student housing. Whenever you ask the reception staff for help, they never have answers. The default response is always: “Send an email.” I stayed at ECLA for one and a half months and moved out as quickly as possible because I genuinely felt scammed. Finally, staff members enter apartments without prior notice. You can be cooking in your kitchen and a staff member may suddenly walk in without knocking, which is a serious violation of privacy. I strongly do not recommend ECLA Massy Palaiseau.

scam and massive neglect. fake positive opinions from short stayers. looks beautiful visually, but… nothing works here and is never fixed. nobody cares. I never leave bad opinions, but here I’m forced - lift freefalling half floor multiple times, no reaction, tenants had to put the warning about it themselves - full mold in every possible vent, and they acknowledge it because they wrote it in room protocol - hoards of ants in every room - shattered glass of washing machine - bikes are being stolen, locks are being sawed. no protection and safety - stray cat living in building - either hot water or freezing water in every room, no in between - filthy corridors for months, unwashed carpets, stench - water cutoff for 8 hours at daytime, information about it 3 minutes before - entire laundry room for one building got out of service for a week, no information, entire 2-building complex had to rely on 7 washing machines - can’t open window because it’s blocked by shutter. bad design - stairs so narrow you can put only half feet on. not a joke. - every part of rooms breaks easily after normal use and you have to pay for it. no maintenance. they give you malfunctioning room and nobody can help you. - nasty laundry room caused by poor design choices, always wet and full of dust - 850€ is cheapest rent. yup. - floors are inaccessible due to the lift vandalism and broken automatic door lock - reception is very slow and they don’t have enough people - I had to wait 1 hour before I got my room. They had weird problems with finding documents that I already send them, and they didn’t tell me what’s going on, why am I waiting. - closing lids of trashcans instead of leaving them open in a trash-building. You have to touch them every time you throw stuff away - nasty balls (?) in vending machine - fabric covered chairs in common area all look like somebody puked on them - they don’t anweser on mails - they only react when there’s a lawsuit - I had to wait over 2 months for deposit

This place is an absolute disaster from start to finish. They enter your room without permission as if privacy doesn’t exist, and the level of disrespect is unbelievable. You ask for a simple quittance de loyer and they either ignore you or keep delaying it. The room they give you is literally broken — nothing works properly — and they don’t even bother cleaning it before handing it over. It’s freezing inside, the heating is useless, and the water is either boiling hot or ice cold with no in-between. The staff is incredibly rude, unhelpful, and acts like you’re bothering them every time you ask for something. There is zero security; anyone can walk in and out without being checked, and you never feel safe. The walls are paper thin, the common areas are dirty, maintenance never shows up, and when they do, they barely fix anything. The management doesn’t care at all — all they want is your money. Honestly, just run and never come to ECLA. It’s one of the worst experiences you could possibly have.
