I'm gonna be honest. The place is nice. The location is nice. But the bed bugs are not nice. I got severely attacked by bed bugs the last 2 times I stayed here. I am bitten all over my body. There's no excuse for why this place has bed bugs. I understand that lots of people are in and out. But there are measures that they obviously are not taking. I feel morally compelled to warn people about this.

**THE ONLY 5* REVIEWS ON HERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WORK AT THE HOSTEL. DONT BE FOOLED JUST READ THE REST** The people who run this place need to take some accountability for the reviews and stop sugar coating things and make changes. There is no privacy in the pods as curtains are not allowed. The toilet doors are flimsy, can be easily looked through and do not have proper locks. The back podshare area is meant to have the kitchen out of use from 10pm during quiet time. This is not practiced, there was an individual constantly up and down to the fridge and microwaving food until 2.30am. This fills the room with light. The back door off this area is also continually left open and there were people talking loudly after quiet hours Good location but wouldn't waste the money on this place. Bathrooms were grubby as was the overall place. Towels also smell like wet dog.

This place is downright filthy and an embarrassment to the hostel industry. First and foremost you will leave this place with bugs and bug bites. When we arrived the common areas had dirty food spilled on tables, only 1 of 3 bathrooms had toilet paper, and the entire building stunk like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The receptionist offered a dirty used bunk to our friend, then lied saying another one of our friends had undone the sheets like that. PodShare Venice doesn't deserve your money, time or to even be on this planet anymore stay a million miles elsewhere.

DO NOT STAY HERE. this place is infested with bedbugs. I have bites every day since I have left this disgusting hostel. I have emailed podshare with pictures and will see how they resolve. The place is filthy and does not look like it is cleaned regularly. the toilets barely have a door and there were no additional toilet rolls over a Friday night. I notified the staff via email who said that due to high number of people, don't expect to have toilet paper regularly.

I’m a big fan of the feel of a hostel and this place lived up to the expectation. The property and yard are huge, the bamboo and butterflies and big open grass space was my favorite part of being here. The location couldn’t be better with a coffee shop and the canals essentially across the street, all the restaurants of Abbot Kinney 2 blocks up and the beach and boardwalk only a 12 minute walk away!! I had a blast here. Perfect ground zero for an adventure in Venice!

I love the nature here in the back yard! It’s such an amazing space. The staff are so personable and lovely and really try to accommodate you. I can easily walk to the beach! And I love the area. Definitely coming back!

This place has potential but needs significant improvement. As a guest, I felt unsafe and couldn't escalate my concerns effectively. As a registered nurse, I felt compelled to write this detailed review to inform others and prompt the owner to take action. Cons: - The back bathroom shower head was old and dirty, with little water pressure, and the cubicle smelled of mold. The toilet had dried urine stains and smelled unclean upon arrival. It was cleaned shortly after we checked in. - The laundry service cost $7 for washing and drying without providing detergent. We used our own pods but were refused a subsidy. Guests couldn't control their own washing, as staff handled it. My clothes returned with an odd sock, my partner lost a sock, and my bra had a broken strap. Staff said, "sometimes things go missing in the wash." - Staff were seen vaping on the job and seemed unresponsive, possibly due to being high. - Privacy was lacking, even in the bathrooms. Door locks were easily opened from outside, and there were gaps in shower cubicles. As a female, I had to change in the open when showers or other changing areas were occupied. Privacy curtains or designated changing rooms would help. - Other guests were inconsiderate of shower times. One guest was in a shower for hours, possibly smoking. The receptionist said she was fine and vaping. This guest also made noise in the kitchen during quiet hours. - We encountered bed bugs during our stay. My partner and I noticed bites and found bugs in our bed. When we reported this to the staff, they seemed indifferent and offered no solutions. We were concerned about bringing bed bugs home with us, and this issue significantly impacted our comfort and peace of mind. - We rented a queen mattress in pod 35, a high-traffic area near the kitchen and bathroom. The mattress was comfortable, and the hostel was quirky, but after four nights, our initial excitement faded. Pros: - Inviting grounds with a basketball court, ample outdoor seating, hammocks, and benches. - Staff accommodated our request to move to a quieter pod. - Convenient bus stop with a bus every 15 minutes. - The venue offers baggage storage and on-site laundry.

I wouldn't recommend Podshare. Initially, I was intrigued by the YouTube video showcasing the place, having stayed in numerous hostels before. However, the reality fell short of expectations. My partner booked us the accommodation. Here are my concerns: Bed bugs made for a restless night. Despite raising the issue with reception, their suggested solution of peppermint oil didn't help. Multiple complaints about this issue are evident in the reviews. The rooms get really cold at night, dropping to 9 degrees. Coming from Australia, I wasn't prepared for this. Moreover, the blankets provided were inadequate, merely cloths, which didn't offer much warmth. I complained and asked for a blanket. I received a another cloth which was completely wet. Their dryer is terrible or they use it for 10mins. The showers had significant mold issues, making it unbearable to stay in there for long due to the foul smell. The behavior of other guests was a major issue, with instances of theft, excessively long showers, and even complaints about drug use (meth) in the bathroom, dismissed by reception as vaping. The rule prohibiting privacy was absurd, especially considering the diverse range of guests, some of whom seemed to be barely getting by or dealing with substance issues. Lack of privacy curtains only exacerbated the situation. Crazy to think in 2024 accommodations can ban your right to privacy. There are only 2 spots in the whole place where you can change in private. The place is super DIY so even the doors have huge gaps for people to see into. Some people didn't even care so they would just change out in the open. The idea sounds smart in theory. But I wish the owner could stay there for a week to see what it looks like in practice. Laundry services cost $7 and provide no recourse for lost clothes, with staff dismissing such occurrences as regular as an excuse to losing my clothes. The kitchen utensils were in poor condition, with only a limited number of usable pots and pans available due to heavy usage. The door system was poorly managed, often leaving guests feeling uneasy, especially when reception wasn't available to address concerns promptly. The disruptive behavior of some guests, coupled with a lack of proactive staff presence, detracted from the overall experience. While some positives include the provision of produce and the helpfulness of certain staff members like Kat and the tall black guy, the overall stay was rough. Unless you're on an extremely tight budget, I'd recommend spending a bit more to avoid Podshare. It's not worth the hassle.
