I’ve been living here for 1 1/2 years give or take. This is a fairly affordable place for those who are on a budget and don’t mind smaller housing options. Keep in mind that Tacoma Flats is a shared living space. Everyone has their own room with a bathroom and sink but no kitchen. There’s a mini fridge and microwave in room as well. Kitchen is shared downstairs and is very spacious with a tv room, games and laundry. Unfortunately there’s only street parking and sometimes you have to park in awkward places. My car has been chewed by street rats and got broken into by homeless ppl. This is downtown Tacoma so you’ll see a lot of that. I’ve learned to keep NOTHING in the car. There’s pros and cons. If you don’t have a car and use the bus, there’s buses everywhere in this location. Close to the Dome too. Anyway aside from the parking situation, street rats and car getting broken into, I’ve had no major issues in the last 1 1/2 years here. The neighbors around me aren’t noisy. Thank goodness cause you can definitely hear each other. I don’t contact management often because I’ve had no reason to. Rent just went up but it’s still manageable for me. They keep the shared areas clean with housekeeping 5 days a week. All in all 4 ⭐️ out of 5 for the affordable living, you get what you pay for situation.

Tacoma Flats is a great and affordable option for studios in the area. The rooms can come partially furnished and are clean and updated for such an old building. While the hallways can be tight, the common areas are very large and quiet. Jessica runs the office and is a literal angel. I know if I have any questions or concerns they will be answered swiftly and effectively. She really is the sweetest. The building is very secure and equipped with cameras. The parking can be a little tricky, but overall honestly not bad to deal with on the daily. Overall this is a great place for an individual, a great transitional option, or just a great place to save money.

This place is awesome, the managers really understanding and helpful. I moved here from Texas for work, I needed to find a place quickly. Tacoma Flats did not disappoint.

Stayed for 3 months for a summer internship First called in with a $60 application fee. Thought it would be like the pictures. Came in and saw the opposite, with 200 sq feet with the window facing directly at another room. I was told there would be a couch but there was not even room for it. I started work the next Monday so I had no choice but to sign a 3 month overpriced lease of $1099 a month ($200 extra for it being 3 month). The room has no A/C so in the summer you need your own A/C or it’s a sauna. The place is right next to a homeless camp that’s under the I5 bridge so there’s always homeless right out the door. Brandon, the guy who works at the office is nice. All the appliances were new and the shower had good water pressure. The place being furnished with the desk and twin bed was nice but way too small for everything to really even fit. Takes a long time for the water to get hot. Overall unpleasant experience.
